Bengaluru Revamps 25 Junctions with Fountains, Lights, and Greenery
To improve both the aesthetics and functionality of busy traffic intersections, the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has revamped 25 junctions in Bengaluru’s central business district. This initiative, launched a year ago under the Brand Bengaluru concept, focuses on creating a more pleasant environment for both motorists and pedestrians.
The upgraded junctions feature several amenities, including dry fountains, landscaped plantations, LED lighting, and swings at selected spots. These improvements aim to alleviate the stress often experienced by motorists, especially during peak hours. The junctions have been designed to enhance the overall experience, particularly in the evenings when the illumination and greenery offer a calming atmosphere.
The project, which was completed with a grant of Rs 240 million, also includes the installation of curbstones and fancy benches, such as those on Race Course Road, where pedestrians and office workers can relax during their breaks. The addition of LED lights and dry fountains, as seen at Hudson Circle, has enhanced the visual appeal of these spaces, making them not only functional but also aesthetically pleasing.
The BBMP’s efforts extend beyond aesthetics, aiming to ensure these junctions are better utilized and do not become traffic bottlenecks. The upgrades are part of a broader initiative to improve the experience of commuters and enhance the city's urban landscape.
