Basil Kwauk Appointed New COO of Air India Starting January 2025


Air India announced the appointment of Captain Basil Kwauk as its new Chief Operations Officer (COO), effective January 2025. "Basil brings extensive expertise from his 25-year career at Singapore Airlines and Vistara. We are excited for his leadership as we embark on the next phase of our transformation," said Campbell Wilson, Air India's CEO, in an internal email reviewed by ET. Kwauk, a skilled pilot and mechanical engineer, has a diverse background in operating aircraft, from Airbus A319s to Boeing 787s. He will be relocating to New Delhi in the coming weeks. Captain Klaus Goersch, the current COO who has been instrumental in the airline’s merger, will step down at the end of December to take on a senior position in the United States, where he will be closer to his family.
