Avinashi elevated flyover in Coimbatore to be extended by 5 km: CM Stalin

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M. K. Stalin has announced an extension to the Avinashi Road Elevated Flyover in Coimbatore. The flyover will be extended by 5 km, from Chinniampalayam to Neelambur, with an estimated cost of Rs 600 crore. This extension is expected to improve connectivity and ease traffic congestion in the area.

The extension will begin soon with a project study and the preparation of a detailed project report (DPR), according to officials from the Special Projects wing of the Highways Department. The flyover is already under construction and, once completed, will be the longest flyover in Tamil Nadu, stretching over 10 km. The current construction is progressing well, with 83% of the work already completed.

The extension is part of the ongoing efforts to enhance transportation infrastructure in Coimbatore, with the new flyover designed to ease traffic and improve access to key areas, including the airport. The project is expected to be completed by January 2025.
