Avaada to Develop Pumped Hydropower Storage Project in Rajasthan

Avaada Group, a key player in the green energy sector, has announced an investment of Rs 5,800 crore to develop a 1200 MW pumped hydropower storage project in Rajasthan. The project, located in the Sirohi district, will be a significant step in ensuring energy security for the region and enhancing its environmental sustainability. The investment is set to be spread over 5-7 years, with the project expected to provide a consistent supply of renewable energy and bolster Rajasthan’s position as a leader in clean energy.

Rajasthan is already a major player in renewable energy, with an installed capacity of 28,617 MW, ranking second in India. The Kadambari Pumped Storage Project will not only provide Round the Clock (RTC) renewable power but will also support grid stability by integrating solar and wind energy. This initiative complements Avaada’s previous investments in Rajasthan, including 1 MTPA Green Ammonia, 1 GW wind power, and 10 GW solar power projects, which together will contribute significantly to Rajasthan's economic growth and employment generation.

The MoU for the project was signed between Avaada Aqua Batteries Pvt Ltd, a subsidiary of Avaada Group, and the Energy Department of the Government of Rajasthan. Rajasthan's Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma highlighted the project’s importance in ensuring sustainable growth, employment, and economic resilience for the state.
