Aurangabad civic body seeks land for safari park development


The Aurangabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) is seeking possession of land for the development of a safari park and also sought Rs 728 crore for various development projects in the city.

Civic administrator Astik Kumar Pandey said the municipal corporation is carrying out the development works of 21 major projects on a war footing, and already 90% work of these projects has been finished.

For Chatrapati Maharaj Museum, Garware Stadium development, drainage line in Satara, Savarkar Research Centre, Deolai, and Gunthewari areas, among other projects, Rs 782 crore is needed. A proposal about the same has been sent to the state, said Pandey.

Pandey gave a presentation on several projects during the meeting held at the district collector’s office, being undertaken by the AMC and Aurangabad Smart City Development Corporation Limited (ASCDCL).

Speaking about the Smart City projects, Pandey said the ASCDCL is operating the Rs 236 crore Smart City bus project, and as part of that, it intends to procure and commission five electric buses. He notified the guardian minister that the Operation Command Centre (OCC) and office of the ASCDCL are nearing the finish and will be ready by October.

Pandey said a proposal has been sent to the revenue secretary for getting land of 17 hectare in gut no 307 for leopard safari and the land of 41.69 hectare in gut no 56 for tiger safari. The Rs 200 crore safari park project is planned to be implemented over 118 hectares, and there is no problem with funds.
