Arunachal’s first ever airport to operate from August 15

The long wait for Arunachal Pradesh to have its own airport will come to an end on August 15 when Hollongi Airport, the state's first airport, begins operations. The state capital, Itanagar, is only 15 kilometres away from the greenfield Hollongi Airport.

The Lilabari Airport in Assam's North Lakhimpur district is currently the closest airport to Arunachal. The closest international airport to Itanagar is Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport in Guwahati, Assam.

On August 15, the Hollongi Airport is scheduled to be officially opened and begin accepting passengers. 200 passengers can be accommodated at peak times at the energy-efficient greenfield airport, which has all contemporary amenities. The 2,300m runway will also be suitable for take-off and landing of Boeing 747 aircraft.
