APSRTC Plans 1050 E-Buses

The Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) is set to deploy 1,050 electric buses across 11 major cities, marking a major push toward sustainable urban mobility. The rollout is being implemented in partnership with Convergence Energy Services Limited (CESL) under the Centre’s FAME-II scheme.

This initiative aims to drastically cut down vehicular emissions and transition to green energy-based transport systems. The buses will operate on both intra-city and inter-city routes, with cities like Vijayawada, Visakhapatnam, Tirupati, and Guntur among the key beneficiaries.

APSRTC is working on finalising charging infrastructure, route planning, and maintenance facilities to support this transition. The deployment is part of a larger vision to make public transportation cleaner, more efficient, and commuter-friendly across Andhra Pradesh.

This move not only supports India’s broader climate goals but also offers economic benefits through lower fuel costs and operational efficiency. APSRTC plans to complete the rollout within the next 18 months, significantly boosting the state’s electric mobility landscape.

By integrating electric vehicles into mainstream transport, Andhra Pradesh is positioning itself at the forefront of eco-conscious public infrastructure development.
