Andhra to Install 58-Foot Potti Sriramulu Statue in Amaravati


Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu announced on Sunday that a 58-foot statue of Potti Sriramulu will be installed in Amaravati to honour his 58-day hunger strike for the creation of Andhra State. The announcement was made on Sriramulu’s birth anniversary.

Naidu stated that the statue, along with a memorial, will be completed before the next birth anniversary. Additionally, Sriramulu’s native house in Padamatipalli will be converted into a museum, and a modern health center and high school building will be constructed in the village.

Speaking at the birth anniversary celebrations in Undavalli, where he paid floral tributes, the Chief Minister emphasised Sriramulu’s dedication to the people and the Telugu community. The 125th birth anniversary celebrations began on March 16, with plans for monthly programs leading up to a grand finale next year.
