The winning bidder must provide a performance bank guarantee equivalent to 5 per cent of the contract value. Additionally, a payment security deposit of 3 per cent of the awarded amount will be deducted from the running bills during the contract period.

The maintenance work involves preventive and corrective tasks such as cleaning solar modules, inspecting inverters, monitoring system performance, and ensuring safety and security. The upkeep of the transmission line includes routine inspections for damages, repairs to insulators, conductors, and poles, vegetation control, and fault detection with necessary repairs.

Eligible bidders must hold a valid “A Class” electrical contracting license and provide proof of prior experience in maintaining a ground-mounted solar project with a minimum capacity of 3 MW. Additionally, they must possess a solvency certificate amounting to at least 40 per cent of the estimated tender cost.

Several Indian universities have recently undertaken solar energy projects. In July 2024, the Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad sought expressions of interest for a 3.5 MW captive solar photovoltaic project. In March 2024, Bundelkhand University in Jhansi invited bids for a 1.2 MW grid-connected rooftop solar project, while Maharshi Dayanand University in Rohtak issued a tender for a 1.5 MW grid-connected rooftop solar installation.
