With these new agreements, Amazon's renewable energy portfolio in India will expand to 53 solar and wind projects, collectively generating over 4 MWh of clean energy annually. In addition to these utility-scale projects, Amazon’s renewable initiatives in India also include onsite solar installations on 44 buildings that support its operations.

Globally, Amazon has invested in over 600 solar and wind projects, including more than 50 in India. The company continues to advance its commitment to powering its operations entirely with renewable energy, aligning with its broader Climate Pledge to achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2040. Amazon reached its 100% renewable energy milestone ahead of schedule in 2023.

In October 2023, Amazon announced its seventh utility-scale project in India, a 198 MW wind farm in Osmanabad, Maharashtra. The company's earlier renewable energy initiatives in the country include a set of projects announced in 2022 with a combined capacity of 420 MW. These projects comprised a 210 MW solar plant by ReNew Power, a 100 MW solar project by Amp Energy India, and a 110 MW solar installation by Brookfield Renewables.

The corporate sector has been actively adopting renewable energy solutions, with global corporations procuring a record 46 GW of solar and wind energy in 2023, reflecting a 12 per cent increase from 2022, as reported by Bloomberg New Energy Finance’s Corporate Energy Market outlook for early 2024.
