Airtel begins pilot testing surveillance service for smart homes


Airtel is set to make its foray into the new home surveillance solutions business. As per the sources, Airtel has initiated the pilot testing for its new surveillance solutions for smart homes under X-safe in Delhi-NCR.

Currently, the surveillance solution is available to some Airtel Xstream Fiber broadband customers. Customers can get the service by paying Rs 99 per month. They can also opt for a yearly subscription plan of Rs 999.

X-safe includes indoor and outdoor security HD cameras, with advanced features, including H.265 compression, 360-degree view, colour night vision, IP67 rating, privacy shutter and human detection. Other services include FTTH broadband connection and telco-grade cloud storage. It is the first subscription-based surveillance solution by Airtel. It will enable the customers to monitor indoor and outdoor areas anytime from their mobile phones.

According to the sources, the buyers will have to pay a one-time cost for the smart cameras. The subscription will include access to the company's cloud storage, where the videos will be stored. Currently, Airtel is offering three camera options to the customers. With this, smart home gadgets are making their position in the Indian market.
