Air India, Virgin Australia Sign Codeshare Agreement

Air India has partnered with Virgin Australia to enhance connectivity between India and Australia. Under this codeshare agreement, Air India will place its ‘AI’ code on Virgin Australia flights, allowing passengers seamless travel beyond Sydney and Melbourne to 16 destinations across Australia and New Zealand.

The partnership covers cities such as Adelaide, Brisbane, Canberra, Perth, and Queenstown. Travelers booking a single-ticket journey will benefit from smooth transfers and through-checked baggage.

Air India currently operates 14 non-stop weekly flights between Delhi and Melbourne/Sydney using Boeing 787 Dreamliners. The airline has over 16 codeshare agreements and 100 interline partnerships.

Bookings for the new codeshare began on February 11, with the first flights set to operate from February 18, 2025.
