Air India announces Self Baggage Drop system at SVPI airport

Air India has introduced a Self Baggage Drop (SBD) system at the domestic terminal of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International (SVPI) airport, aimed at streamlining the baggage check-in process for travelers. This innovative system enables passengers to conveniently drop off their luggage at designated kiosks, receive tags, and proceed directly to security check-in. Following the lead of Indigo Airlines, Air India has become the second airline to implement this system at Ahmedabad Airport. To use the SBD services, passengers simply need to approach the self-check kiosk, enter the necessary information, and print the baggage tags. These tags are then affixed to the bags for machine scanning. Upon dropping off their luggage, passengers will receive a receipt from the machine, which they must collect before proceeding directly to security check-in. Ahmedabad?s domestic airport witnesses a high volume of traffic, handling approximately 250 flights and serving 25,000-30,000 passengers daily, often leading to lengthy queues at the baggage drop counters. This new SBD system is designed to mitigate such congestion, offering passengers a smoother and more efficient check-in experience. (Source: DeshGujarat)
