Ahmedabad's tallest 45-floor skyscraper planned in Gota, awaits approval
With the rapid expansion of high-rise developments along SG Road and nearby areas, Ahmedabad is set to witness the construction of its tallest commercial building. The proposed structure, reaching a height of 150 meters, will be located opposite Nirma University in the Gota ward. A proposal for the project has been submitted to the state government’s special technical committee for approval.
Once sanctioned, this new development will surpass the city's current tallest commercial building, which stands at 147 meters with 43 floors near Rajpath Club. The upcoming high-rise is expected to have more than 45 floors, reinforcing Ahmedabad’s position as a leader in Gujarat’s vertical growth. The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation has already approved 23 high-rises, including 18 residential and five commercial buildings exceeding 100 meters in height. Additionally, the Ahmedabad Urban Development Authority (AUDA) has sanctioned six such towers, while five more await approval.
The trend of high-rise construction in Gujarat gained momentum in 2021 when the state government began permitting buildings taller than 100 meters in Ahmedabad, Surat, Rajkot, Vadodara, and Gandhinagar. According to government records as of September 3, 2024, two such buildings have received approval in Gandhinagar and Surat, while one has been sanctioned in Vadodara.
This shift towards taller structures highlights the region’s evolving urban landscape, driven by increasing demand for high-density commercial and residential spaces.
