Ahmedabad-Mumbai Bullet Train: Town plans underway

The initiation of the formulation of special town planning (TP) schemes around stations of the forthcoming Ahmedabad-Mumbai bullet train has been undertaken by the Gujarat government.

The goal is to ensure that the development near these stations is in harmony with the surrounding areas. The primary focus of this initiative is currently on the creation of new town planning schemes for the Sabarmati and Surat stations of the project. There are plans to replicate similar schemes for other stations in Gujarat.

A group of officials from the urban development department (UDD) recently undertook a visit to Japan, where they examined the station patterns of operational bullet trains. An official mentioned, "Bullet train stations serve as comprehensive utility hubs in Japan. Besides being connected to other means of public transport, the bullet train stations in Japan are integrated with malls, stores, and even residential blocks."
