Agartala-Kolkata train service via Bangladesh set to operate


Chief Minister Manik Saha announced that Tripura's railway connectivity is set to receive a significant enhancement with the operationalisation of the train service from Agartala to Kolkata via Bangladesh. He mentioned the successful trial run of the proposed Agartala and Gangasagar (Bangladesh) route, establishing a direct connection between Agartala and Kolkata through Bangladesh.

During the flagging off ceremony of the Agartala-Deoghar Express train with LHB coaches at Agartala railway station, Saha expressed gratitude towards Prime Minister Narendra Modi for fulfilling the promise of providing HIRA (highways, I-way, railway, and airway) infrastructure to the northeastern state.

Saha highlighted the commitment of the central government by stating that Rs 2.6 billion has been sanctioned for upgrading Agartala station to world-class standards. Additionally, Rs 930 million has been allocated for the conversion of three railway stations? Dharmanagar, Udaipur, and Kumarghat ? into Amrit Bharat stations.

He acknowledged the transformation in the state's transportation landscape, noting that around 18 express and local trains are currently serving the people of Tripura. Saha expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Railway Minister for their efforts in converting the Agartala-Deoghar express train with advanced LHB coaches.
