Adani Green commissions wind-solar hybrid project in Jaisalmer

Adani Green Energy Limited (AGEL) subsidiary Adani Hybrid Energy Jaisalmer One Limited has commissioned a 390 MW wind and solar hybrid power plant at Jaisalmer, Rajasthan.

It will be India's first wind and solar hybrid power generation plant to harness the full potential of renewable energy by resolving the intermittency of the generation and providing a more reliable solution to cater to the increasing power demand.

According to a statement, the plant has signed a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) at a tariff of Rs. 2.69 per KWh, below the Average Power Procurement Cost (APPC) at the national level, providing affordable, modern, and clean energy to everyone.

CEO and Managing Director of AGEL, Vneet S Jaain, said that wind-solar hybrid energy is an important aspect which aims to meet India's growing demand for green energy.

He said this hybrid plant is an incremental step towards meeting India's sustainable energy goals.

He added that the project is a part of the first construction facility by international banks in Adani Green. The project was successfully executed amidst the challenges posed by the Covid-19 pandemic.

After the commissioning of this project, AGEL now has an operational capacity of 5.8 GW. Its renewable portfolio stood at 20.4 GW and is on track to meet its target of 45 GW by 2030.
