AAI to fund pending work at Halwara Airport

Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya M Scindia said in response to a question from Member of Parliament Ravneet Singh during the ongoing Lok Sabha session that the Ministry of Civil Aviation will pay all pending development work on the Halwara (Ludhiana) International Airport.

In light of the airport's poor progress, Ravneet Singh inquired "if it was true that work on the international airport at Halwara had been delayed." He had inquired about the available cash and what the government was doing to secure the project's completion as soon as possible.

Scindia responded that the airport's construction was being handled by the Punjab Government's Public Works Department (PWD). The contractor halted construction work, claiming that the state government had failed to pay bills. The board of directors of the Ludhiana International Airport determined on July 22 that Punjab will halt building activity at the facility.
