18 firms display interest in BSES smart metre tender
Reliance Infrastructure’s BSES Limited of five million smart metre tender received interest from almost 18 companies, as per company executives. Some of the firms that came forward in the Expression of interest (EoI) are leading companies within the country such as HPL, Adani Transmission, Secure Metres, and L&T. While the international companies include Finland-based Wirepas, Bosch Germany, EDF France, Itron, Enel Italy, and Exceleron. BSES, among the power distribution companies in the national capital, announced last week that they will install five million smart metres in its designated areas. The company further issued a tender worth Rs 4,000 crore for the procurement of smart metres. BSES currently owns and operates two discoms, BSES Rajdhani Limited and BSES Yamuna Limited spread across southern, western, and eastern Delhi. The smart metres rollout will start with the high consumption areas and consumers. The company is aiming to commence the rollout by October and conclude the same by March 2025. As of now, the five states have large-scale smart metre installation programmes ongoing. Uttar Pradesh installed 1.16 million metres, Bihar 870,000, Rajasthan 550,000, Haryana 452,000, and Assam 283,000.
