EKI, Shell to form JV for nature-based solutions in India
Pre-eminent global service provider EKI Energy Services Limited and Shell Overseas Investments BV, a unit of Shell plc, have signed an agreement to establish a joint venture for nature-based solutions in India. The EKI Energy Services Limited and Shell Overseas Investments BV had floated a joint venture company to work on nature-based solutions in India for the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions. A company has been incorporated under the name Amrut Nature Solutions Private Limited as a part of their joint venture which has its registered office in Indore. For ensuring environmental sustainability, Amrut Nature Solutions Private Limited shall work towards restoration, conservation, and enhancement of natural ecosystems including forests, grasslands, blue carbon, agriculture, and wetlands to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The joint venture shall offer consultancy/advisory services for the development of NBS projects like sustainable agriculture, mangroves, and forests for the generation of carbon credits for international voluntary or compliance carbon markets. These projects will mitigate greenhouse gasses and effectively address societal challenges while simultaneously providing biodiversity and well-being benefits. EKI Energy Services Limited CMD and CEO Manish Dabkara said that via this joint venture the company seeks to speed the country's net-zero transition along with developing a climate-resilient economy through the enhancement of adoption and execution of various nature-based solutions which will reduce the overall concentration of greenhouse gas.
