CPWD signs MoU with DMRC for loop corridor in Central Vista

The Central Public Works Department (CPWD) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) for a loop corridor in Central Vista.

DMRC will plan and execute the system works of the underground metro in the redevelopment of Central Vista, New Delhi, including civil works of the platform for and on behalf of CPWD.

It will increase the expected cost of the Central Vista project as the metro connectivity is a part of the overall Master Plan for the redevelopment of Central Vista.

All applicable norms prescribed by Central Pollution Control Board are being followed in the redevelopment of Central Vista.

The Department of Justice received a proposal from the Chief Justice of India for developing the National Judicial Infrastructure Authority of India (NJIAI) for adequate infrastructure for courts.

The other salient features include National Judicial Infrastructure Authority of India (NJIAI) will act as a Central body in laying down the road map for planning, creation, development, maintenance and management of functional infrastructure for the Indian Court System, apart from the identical structures under High Courts.

The primary responsibility for developing infrastructure facilities for the judiciary stays with the state governments.

The central government has been implementing a Centrally Sponsored Scheme for developing infrastructure facilities for the judiciary in the district and subordinate courts only by providing financial assistance to the state governments and Union Territories (UTs) in the prescribed fund sharing pattern. This scheme excludes Supreme Court and High Courts.

Since the inception of the scheme in 1993-94, the central government has released total funds of Rs 8,758.70 crore under the scheme to the states and UTs, from which Rs 5,314.39 crore has been released in 2014-15, around 60.68% of the total release is under the scheme.
