India's Oil And Gas Opportunities Highlighted In Singapore

An India energy showcase in Singapore highlighted multi-bn-dollar opportunities in the oil and gas sector and attracted global energy majors and investors. The programme was presided over by Neeraj Mittal, Secretary, Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas (MoPNG), and included senior ministry officials and diplomatic representatives. The Deputy High Commissioner of India to Singapore, Sudhi Choudhary, stressed the depth of India Singapore engagement and the potential for closer partnership across the value chain.

Presentations set out the ongoing exploration bid round, an industry perspective from BP in India and an overview of India Energy Week 2027. Secretary Mittal outlined investment opportunities across exploration and production anchored by the Samudra Manthan National Offshore Exploration Mission, manufacturing under Make in India, refining and petrochemicals, midstream gas infrastructure and strategic storage. The programme noted that India's energy demand is growing three to four times faster than the global average and identified routes for international participation such as equity stakes, joint ventures, technology partnerships and long term supply arrangements.

Srikant Nagulapall, Director General of the Directorate General of Hydrocarbons (DGH), outlined hydrocarbon resource potential and reforms, noting that the National Offshore Exploration Mission was approved by the Cabinet on 31 July 2026 with an outlay of USD 8.85 bn through FY 2030-31. He highlighted the Open Acreage Licensing Programme rounds, with bids for deep and ultra deepwater blocks closing on 17 September 2026. The reforms cited include the Hydrocarbon Exploration and Licensing Policy, the Discovered Small Field policy and rules enacted in 2025, which together have shifted the fiscal model and opened over 99 per cent of previously restricted offshore acreage.

BP India chairman Kartikeya Dube described the group's upstream and downstream presence, including joint ventures in the KG D6 block and technical services partnerships supporting major offshore fields. The presentation emphasised continued collaboration between international companies and Indian stakeholders. The ministry said the showcase aimed to attract investment and foster long term cooperation for energy security.
